today i tried starting my raptor 660. It has trouble starting. Then i looked at the carbeuretor and it was sort of shaking, my geuss is that my carb boots popped off like many 01 raptor owners. Wats a way to fix this and are there aftermarket boots for the raptor. Please give me some responses because i wanna get this thing started so i can go riding without any worries.

I got rid of the stupid stock clamps and got some heavy duty ones from pepboys. Most of the time the carbs pop off because the carbs werent put on correctly after removing them. get some UPP intake boots and use regular hose clamps from an auto parts store, that will get rid of the problem.

its all raptors that have that problem, not just the 01. and there is a lot that dont pop off all the time. UPP is the onyl way to go though. soo great. so much sturdier than stock and they never pop off. great investment. ripper racing has them for 80$

o thanks guys and these aftermarket boots wont rip and they wont pop off. So this was the reason is was so hard to start it up. Soemtimes i would get it and then after a minute of pulsing it would die. Also is the starter clutch and big deal or is it something that is not really neccesary to get. Im a little short on money. Also will this new boots help it idle in cold weather and enhance proformance when riding or are they something that just helps starting up. Thanks for the info and can u give me the website for ripper racing. I know forums that ask for help with something with their quad is not one that many people like to answer.

Had that problem with my 01 Rappy one time.
The air boxes are sometimes installed too far back and allow the carbs to pull out.
Move the air box forward slightly and reinstall carbs.
Thats what I did and never had the problem again.

the reason the carbs are popping off is because the carbs are backfiring
richen your idle screw,,,,and even bump the idle up a bit
the clamps arent the problem,,,,,,the cold dense winter air is leaning out your bike,,,,,just need to richen it up a bit
