My CDI box just went up, is this a reocuring problem with them ? It cost me $225 , so no new tires [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

I havent hear of one yet. Did you swamp it? Did you try turning the motor over, with out the plug grounded? The cdi needs to have a load on it( spark plug). For instance, if you pull the plug out, after swamping, and spin the motor over ( with either the starter or the rope), and the key is on...it can hurt itself.
The cdi box is old tech and pretty stone simple, but i suppose one or two bad ones make it to a customer.

 

i was winching some heavy ****, could that be it ? I winched a car up a ice hill cuz it was stuck and i winched a huge tree over , it alreadys was cut but it was like 35ft tall and the base was about 3 ft wide, should i not be doing this ?

 

I cant think of any reason doing that would hurt the cdi.

 

huh , i dont know either , all i can think of is winch was shorting out and running my battery low and i didnt know it , so when I used the winch , it just would die

 

I had the same trouble. Winching and the quad just died. everything works just fine but no spark and it never ran again. was a replacement CDI the fix for yours? Lett me know Thanks
