Default Wolverine suspension?

Thinking awfully hard about getting a Wolvy. Somebody mentioned in a post about the suspenion being really stiff for slow speed rides. I ride alot with my family and the riding can be real slow. Is this going to be hell on my back? I am selling my trx300 4x4, mainly because it kills my back. Should I look else where for a smoother ride? I am not looking for a jeep sized atv, and I dont have a lot of cash, will be getting a used machine.

I have a 300 4x4 and a wolverine. The wolverine rides a bit better than the honda. This is because the honda has gator tires. With stock tires on the honda it would be pretty much equal with the wolverine if not softer. If you have stock tires on a honda trx 300 4x4, and don't like the way it rides, you don't want a wolverine.

Maybe a polaris 500 HO would be a better bike for you to look at.

Thanks Madwolverine,
That was the exact comparison I was looking for. It's kind of wierd, but I can ride my wife's 300 2x4 all day without the back pain.

no problem

It's sometimes difficult to get reliable info on the forum due to people falling in love with what they have and/or thinking less of bikes they don't have.

I grew up riding honda three wheelers with no suspension. Compared to those a honda 300 4x4 is a cadillac. Some of the newer quads of today have quite a bit better ride quality than a honda 300 or a wolverine (it's the same design as 10 years ago), especially those with I.R.S.

I do not think that the wolverine is "really stiff" at slower speeds but I think you may want to look at something with a softer setup.

I think I am the one being referred to as stating the Wolverine has stiff suspension. Compared to the other quads I have ridden (400 Rancher, Kawasaki Bayou, Outlander 400, Honda Rincon, Artic Cat) it has a much stiffer suspension. My body and back aches after a ride. I am not giving out unreliable info because I dislike either or quad. I bought the Wolverine because it fit my riding style better.
Just thought I'd clear that up

I've rode the Honda 300 and a BigBear, and found the Honda to have a much smoother ride. I suspect that the Wolvy would be a little better than the BigBear, but not a lot. I love the way my Warrior rides, but wouldn't mind it being a bit softer for trails ..

Sounds like it's a good thing I didn't buy that wolverine on Saturday. It was in pretty bad shape. So the search continues.
