A 727 Raptor is a Raptor 660R with an aftermarket sleeve and 105mm piston. A well built 727(camshaft, porting, etc...) will produce right at double the horsepower of a stock 660.

Raptoraz: did you do your own 727 kit? How hard is it to do? is it only the sleeve and bigger piston?

how hard to you think it would be on the stock 01 gears i got in mine?

thanks, the more inof the more helpful.

I had mine professionally built by Kenz Cycle Tech in Arizona.

The 727 "kit" requires a complete engine teardown. As the 105mm sleeve is so large that the cases require machining.

My build is now two years old and consists of an aftermarket camshaft, connecting rod, balancing, porting, larger valves, and many other things I can't remember at the moment.

The 2001 gears are weak link for even a stock Raptor. But I've heard of many that are still using them. Even with big bores. I had my gears upgraded to the stronger 2002 gears while mine was apart.

where in greese hole do you live i use to live out there . nw sleeve off victoria or victory which ever it is and powell . in the same complex as lrd use to be. Ron wagner owns the place and he makes sleeve for just about every company in the use. if you are not very mechanical i would do a 686 kit so you dont have to split the cases. the are many 686 or 690s in ore. that run far stronger than a lot of 727s. i have a 740 and wish some days i would of stayed small . just a thought.

Hey, I highly recomend that you take a careful look at that 727 if you are thining of buying it. I know that it's a completely different machine, but I bought a modded Banshee, it was bored out, and all this crap. I bought it and it suffered from numerous problems (pistons were crap, water leak, the studs were messed up, the crank clearance was off...) They also lied through their teeth about some of the stuff that was on it.... Anyways, sometimes people modify quads so much, that they are just a handleful to ride because you are always having to tweak on them. This isn't to say that there isn't some nicely built ones out there, just watch out for the ones that are pieces of junk.

I can let my buddy's piped YZF450 get half-way up Olds hill(in Glamis) before I leave, and I can still beat him to the top.
