Default Best place to buy '05 Kodiak oil filters

Where's the best place to buy oil filters for the '05 Kodiak 450? The local dealer wants $11.50 for one! That's more than I pay for the best filter I can buy for my Diesel Superduty...

Grab the numbers off the old one and head down to NAPA. They carry WIX which are damn good filters. Might run about 10$, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better filter. Kupa

If you want to use a Fram filter you can get them at Walmart for about $4.00

If you go to the bottom of this list...its #5, and there are lots of replacement filters for this motor.
WalMart SuperTech ST7317,
about $2. Made by Champion.
Is a cheap and highly rated filter.

filters that fit mazda 626
champion , fram, or supertech
6607
6017
7317
same tread but one has longer body than the others,

these will also work fine on polaris ATVs and honda street bikes.
don't get fooled by some radicals that say it was made for cars and not for ATVs and have different pressure releave valves.
the purpose of the paper type filter is to filter out small particles from the oil, all filter will do just that.
the pupose of the releave valve is.... should the filter become so cloged that it would build up exessive pressure inside the valve would allow the oil to bypass the filter and still flow to engine parts.
well.......anybody that lets the filter become so cloged deserves it.

Fram filters are Crap! You get what you pay for!

Motorcycle Filters.
None are recommended.

AC Delco PF2135
AMSOil SMF103
Carquest 85358
FRAM PH6017A
Honda 15410-MCJ-000
K&N KN-204, about $13. Metric nut on end for easy removal.
NAPA Gold 1358
Purolator ML16817. Imported, not made by Purolator.
STP SMO 07
WIX 51358

Oil Filters that fit most Japanese bikes have 20 x 1.5mm threads, 14 psi by-pass valve, anti-drain back valve, gasket diameter approximately 2.3 inches, O.D. approximately 2.75 inches, length approximately 2.5 to 3.5 inches. If you have room, I recommend the longer filters.

Check out this site for filter study. You won't buy cheap after that.

zsebi,

Will those fit the 2005 Kodiak 450 auto? I got two dealer filters and paid nearly $30. I thought I was going to need to take out a loan!

Wonder what is the best quality filter to use? On rocky Mountain ATV they carry the emgo brand which is rated good. They don't list one for an 05 Kodiak 450. Does anyone know which one fits? I think the 2000-2004 one should work and for only $4.99 its a great deal

Emgo Kodiak Filter
