Default Case Savers - Do they Really Save Your Case??? NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just found out why my case cracked at Glamis on MLK day. My chain smacked my so called Case saver and broke the case just below the oil pressure line and was bleeding oil out as fast as it could pump it.

Well, today I finally patched it up but dont know if it will hold but as far as starting it up and letting it run to full temp twice today, it hasnt leaked yet!! Just to get me by tell I can get me a new set of cases lined up. I still cant believe it dont leak for now but even it does it still surprises me cuz of how bad it was leaking last time. Just will have to pay close attention to that spot each time I get on it.

Oh, JB Stik weld did the job.

I may split my case too at some point but at least until that point I've got a cool looking case saver from RMW Billet. Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

if you want bling....polish the cases! f-those case savers, they just give the chain something to grab onto. they are in my parts box for each machine! just dont ride in sneekers , or tie em up! my 2 cents

Prodesign and its the aluminum bling looking one. From now on, I am not going to use one, the case saver just helped the case break if you know what I mean. The chain SOMEHOW got loose and smacked it just a little which pushed the case saver up with the mounting bolt and along with the ear of the case that holds the oil pressure line. Looked pretty bad at the time it happened, luckily a nice person told me it was leaking before I ran it up the hill again.

WOW, thats a bummer.
I have pitched a chain twice, both times destroying my Pro Design case save, but doing no case damage.
Good luck, I think you will be surprised how well the JB does the job!

I as well damaged the case cover causing oil to leak out. I rewelded the damaged area and never had a problem with it. Never let your chain get too far stretched!!!!

Cool deal, this was all done on a new set of sprockets and a new chain. I just have a problem with the carrier bearing not holding its place on the chain tension. This time I think I may have solved the problem by putting notches on the bearing and inside the swingarm housing.
