Default Kodiak 450 or vinson

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a new quad. I'm thinking between Kodiak 450 or Vinson. Is there a great difference of power between both. How is the reliability. I know that the kodiak has a front lock differencial and not for the vinson. I do hunting and trail.

Thank in advance

The Vinson still has a straight axel in the rear for 2005 , Yamaha has IRS. I would look at whch one has the options you want the most and go with that. I like the diff lock on the kodiak, I use it quite a bit and it makes a big difference. and then theres always which one costs more. The yamaha was cheaper and had more options for my money. thats why I bought the kodiak 450.

And what's about the power and the top end speed?

I don't know what the top end is on the Vinson. My 450 Kodiak will go about 85 - 88 km/ph in two wheel drive, thats plenty fast for the trails I ride on and the bike has good power, low range is great. I don't think there would be a big difference between the two bikes in top speed or power but you would have to speak to someone who has ridden both bikes to really know.

This might be a tuff decision. Here's my opinion. The Vinson is the fastest and has more power. The Kodiak has a smoother ride ( IRS ) and the front locker. Both are great machines. I almost bought a Vinson. The one thing I did not like about it was how vunerable the radiator looked. There's really no protection. That's a different story on the Kodiak. There's almost too much protection. I have trouble getting the mud out of my Grizzlys radiator because of that. If you need the extra power for towing or work get the Vinson. Not that the Kodiak is weak, its just that the Vinson would be a little better. If you want a smooth riding quad for long hours on the trail or a hunting vehicle to blaze your own trails without fear of a radiator problem get a Kodiak. Good Luck!

Check the suzuki side of this site and see what owners are saying about the vinson, find out what kind of problems they are having. thats what I did before I bought my kodiak. It gave me a better idea of what I was buying and how reliable it would be, I didn't find many riders who don't love thier kodiak450.

I use mine for hunting and doing stuff at deer camp, and got the Kodiak in part because of its clearance (rocks, debris) and independent rear, as well as slightly smaller size for maneuverability in the woods, etc. I only have about 10 hours on it, but have NO regrets at all. I won't be going too fast anyway, so the Vinson's extra speed was no bonus for me anyway.
