Where your shift linkage connects to the tranny, their is a black wire(NOT THE WIRE THAT IS HELD ON BY A SCREW), its the wire that you can simply pull off. It is either loose or dirty, you have sand, mud, dirt or something in their to make those symptoms. Mine gets sand in it about once a year. pull it off and clean the bad connection(inside) and clean the plug where it goes into the tranny.

When you rev above something like 3500 rpms for something like 15 seconds the light will start blinking. Either your idle is too high, like was said, or you need to stop revving up and playing with the throttle.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
