Kinda sounds like your ajuster locknut on your pressure plate may have come loose.... Thats what holds the clucth release lever in place inside the crank case... You will need to remove the clutch cover in order to check it....

Well not exactly... When you remove the Clutch release lever on the crank case, you must first loosen the ajuster nut and turn the ajuster screw out only 1-2 turns.... Thats about all it has to be loose for your clutch to not work right.... You do have to remove the clutch cover to check this.... So if you see any bolts from your pressure plate loose or out this could be the problem as well.... Sound like your going to be turning some wrenches.....

The adjuster nut I'm talking about is in the center of the pressure plate... With the phillips stud in the center...

The bolts on the pressure plate should be snug... But the locknut mechanism in the center is for adjusting free play in the clutch, when the adjustment at the bar's is all the way out
