Default 01 warrior pops and won't rev up.....

A little help please.... I have an 01 warrior I bought recently. It ran fine when I checked it out, I went to go riding a couple of days later and problems! It starts and idles fine, but give it more than a quarter throttle and it'll spit and pop through the exhaust and intake side of carb. I took the carb apart and found a little rust..... no flakes or contamination. Spark plug was black like it was running rich. warrior is stock and would like some help here. I have a manual coming for it soon.

yeah i'm goin to have to say the parking brake as well, just delt with that whole mess last night. Heres the thread... http://forums.atvconnection.com/mess...did/440899.cfm

Although it has to do with it stuck in gear it is the same thing, the parking brake thing activated itself while I was riding it and cause it to shut down and lock up. Such a pain in the butt, oh well

You're telling me that because of the parking brake, the engine won't rev up much and will pop back while standing still??? I'm new to atv's. I know motorcycles and cars.....

Well I'll be..... I REALLY appreciate your help. The parking brake didn't fully retract up top. While looking there's a sensor attached to the mechanism on the handle area. It'll keep you from over reving in park..... but not neutral The good thing is my carb is good and clean and I have a new spark plug, The bad thing is that It's now dark and raining
Thanks again for the info... And don't forget cars are screwed up with dumb *** devices just like this

yeah, that's exactly what it is. It's a safety precaution so that you don't go running off with the parking brake engaged. It limits the revs of the engine to really really low .. to the point of not being able to touch the throttle. Or it disengages the fuel circuit or some such .. never really checked into the workings of it ..
