i love yamahas and i always have but i really do think its high time to retire the blasters you can mod the hell out of that thing and your still not gonna get half the satisfaction out of that as you would out of the slightly less outdated 400ex

I don't think it's time to retire the Blaster totally, I think it's time to overhaul it tired old A$$!! Stretch the swingarm out 3", put on some yfz a-arms & shocks, lose the suck a_s balloon tires (they are so 1980's) drop in a YZ250F engine, aluminum rims, etc..... you get the point. Nothing wrong with the "old" Blaster, just let it semi-retire gracefully, only to pull it out of retirement a little more hotroded. Just my thoughts.

i would say it depends on your size and weight, we own 2 blasters, both are piped, my son is 12 and weighs about 100 pounds, as long as you are around the 100 pound range the blaster will really get up and move with just a couple of mods, if you are a heavier person like myself, 200 lbs, and get on the blaster it feels like it has about as much power as a mini bike! the 400ex would be a much better quad for a full size adult, plus the blaster suspension leaves a lot to be desired for a larger person, the 400ex ride is 100% better.
