I didn't find the oil to be expensive. but I did raise an eye brow to the $13 filter. I got my oil for $5 a liter.
I'm going to try to keep it all yamaha and do it all by the book, this is the first atv I've ever had so i'm pretty fussy about it.

To each their own, but anyone who buys his/her oil & filter from the "STEALER" is totally wasting money. I did this twice.. the first & the last times in one trip. Paying 2,3,4 times the amount for a brand of oil & filter that someone else makes for yamaha,polaris,honda,suzuki,etc... is foolish. The only oil I buy from the stealer is my snowmobile injector oil. The 4 stroke oil for my quad I use is Mobil-1 synthetic $2.50/qt & a fram filter $3.50. $8.50-$9.00 for an oil change, vs $25 for oil & filter from dealer...err I mean STEALER. Just my take on things.

Thanks for the link, I did not know there was that much differences in oil. But in the link Yamaha says to change oil every 5 rides. Isn't that a little excessive?
