go with a raptor, DS or Z400 for all around riding. Your gonna need a reverse and electric start, plus a comfortable seat so just sit on one and see how you like them.
a reverse would be nice but i dont need it plus it would be nice since ill be getting into racing id look at the raptor but they are top heavy and more likely to roll on the places i ride is the front easy to get up on the 450 my freinds 2005 400ex is all stock just jetted and his front lifts up if you pin it in 1st 2nd 3rd n sometimes in 4th
also when are the 2006 models coming out any changes from the 05 the only info i found on this was 1 post and it was 3 pages of mostly arguing over what octain gas should be used

I would do a DS 650 before a raptor, much better built bike and it is a toque monster. Smoother than all hell for factory suspension. I will be selling my bike at the end of the year and getting the DS. I ride a lot of desert trials but also GLAMIS, where big *****, big torque and crap loads of suspension are needed. The DS is heavy but my buddy can hang with the 450 's over all the hills and even pulls away from them on the bigguns. Just a thought.
