Reinstalling Bolts on hub?
#1
Who knew the simple things could be the hardest. I took out one of my front bolts in the hub by putting the nut at the end of the bolt, and hitting it with a rubber hammer until it came out the backside. I took out that bolt, then tried to put it back in and noticed the little thread pattern where the part of the bolt fits into the hub when everything is tightened. I pushed it in and turned it softly until the grooves lined up and then tried to push as hard as i could (not too much leverage or room to get any force behind your push) and i couldnt get the bolt in. There is no room to hammer that bolt in with out removing the disc and everything. How can u get these bolts in?
Also, when u get front wheel spacers, how do you put those new bolts in your hub without taking everything apart? Because the stock bolts barely fit, how could you possibly put in bolts that are 1 1/2 inches longer? Or do you have to take everything apart and your hub off in order to install these new bolts?
And one final question, for the front bolts that go into the hub and bolt on the tire. Can you go to the hardware store and get different bolts? Obviously they wont have the grooves at the head of the bolt like stock, but can do this? And if you do get bolts from the hardware store, i know you cant get larger diameter bolts, because then it wont fit into the hub hole right and there will be lots off freeplay. But if u can get bigger bolts can u drill larger holes in your rim, i mean enlarge the existing holes. Thanks for any replies.

Haha, i guess i shoulda just tried to put the bolt in as far as it can go, turn it so it feels likes its locked in the grooves, and tighten down the nut. I just thought for sure it was gonna strip the grooves, but it didnt and its in.
But still i have that same question if you can use bolts from a hardware store that do not have the grooves in them. thanks-Rider1169
