Default help me! '05 Kodiak 450 or not?

I am about to get a new 4-weeler. I'm thinking about the kodiak 450. I spend alot of time in water while i'm hunting, and I keep hearing that with the auto. trans. It wouldn't be the best bike for me. any input would be helpful.

Hey, hows it going. My dad's got a 01 Kodiak we bought it used about 2 years ago, and there is still no problems, except the ball joint is a lil loose but tat probally my fault because i pushed the quad until i got mine to play around with. Anyway I believe the Kodiak's a great maintence quad I have plowed 2 full years now with that through 2 feet of snow and no problems the winch finally gave out this year we got a new one though. And it is no slow quad either. I would go with it because its new suspension system and the GPS will help you alot through those tough trails after baggin that deer.

i got my 05 450 kodiak 2 months ago and love it. it will do anything you need it to do. i had a winch installed and really like that too. also some hand warmers which help on those really cold nights up north. my buddy has a 2003 and 2004 450 kodiaks and he loves them too. i put mine thru hell in the snow and water on the lake ice fishing and it never hesitated once and has plenty of power. how fast do you really need to go anyway? 50mph plus on trails is fast enough for me :-)

I'm brand new too. I bought a used 06 about a month and a half ago. I love it. Great machine for new riders. It has enough power for all you will need plus easy to ride and handles nicely. I had ridden my brother-in-laws Polaris 400 and it seems much nicer that that with more power. The fastest I've gone so far is 42 and that was plenty for me right now. There seemed to be a good amount more throttle left as well.

Hello, I have an 05 Kodiak bought brand new and I have had more problems than I can count on two hands. From steering ball joints, Cv joints, brakes, rear main oil seal, fuel gauge, rear wheel bearings, carb probs. I drive mine through mud and water and I ride it everyday. When it is not broke. I would look in a different direction.

Basically don't buy the extended warranty and expect anything in return.... The salesman told me this when I bought the quad....

Seems like there are a few rear diff seal problems on some 05' s but most run without any problems at all....and yes I pressure wash mine too....so that is not the problem..
