Default 2002 RAPTOR 660 ELECTRICAL

i recently bought a 2002 raptor and it had problems the day after.....after trying to engage it into reverse the rev limiter would stay on in neutrel and in gear....i disconnected the battery and let it reset it worked fine again...i finally figured out the reverse i turned the **** and kept pushing down, the reverse light didnt work and the motor would rev freely in reverse when i backed up ...i then drove foward again and a minuite later the rev limiter came on and i couldnt rev the motor at all i now just reseted the computer again and i dont touch the reverse at all and i never had the problem when riding....somtimes over night at first start it does it tho any one have an idea what is wrong?
Im guessing the switch for the reverse light and the limiter is fu**ed.. i dont know i was thinking about doing the mod to tkae the limiter right off but i want a light and i want it to work like it did from the factory

I think Ripper Racing has a kit to bypass the rev limiter and still allows the light to work.

I would check to see why the light doesn't come on, that may be part of the problem.
You could also remove the switch and check and see if it's sticking. Maybe the switch was sticking and the previous owner removed the bulb so it wasn't on all the time.

Make sure it's not the parking brake switch that's acting up to.

ok sweet thanks one more thing tho... is the switch inside behind the case where the reverse cable linkage goes into and is that the one that makes the light and limiter kick in...also where is the parking brake switch....i think what is happening is the switch for reverse might be acting up causing the light not to come on and the rev limiter to stay on at the wrong times...im not sure

The switch is near the front sprocket. There are two, one is the neutral switch and the other with the slip-on connector is the reverse switch.

The parking brake switch is in the clutch lever perch.
