well, pretty much the same except for colors over the years with the exception of the 89 model which saw 10" wheels in the rear (but they only kept them on there for a few yrs) they also revalved the shocks. the revalving made a noticleble difference b/c we had an 88 and an 89, and the 89 would handle better, jump better and was smoother and less jarring to ride. i really liked that bike...
oh, most important change- some point in 90's they changed the upper J arms in the front to a true double A arm setup. also, i heard that they changed a few parts in the engine; though with the ones we had over the yrs since 88, i couldnt really tell a glaring difference. in 2002, they added a different tail/brake light, changed the handle bars and control levers to "raptor style" ( you know yamaha - they want to milk the raptor name for everything they can).
