ReQ,
We have six Yamaha's, one Kawasaki, and one Bombardier out in the garage right now. Everyone in our family has one or two Yamaha's, including myself, and I also have a DS 650. If your trails are in open terrain, and you ride fast (frequently over 50 mph), get the DS650. If you want to leave your quad relatively stock get the DS. If your trails are in wooded terrain, or more tight and twisty, get the Raptor. And if you want to mod the h e l l out of your quad, get the Raptor.

well viper, the trails i ride r hard to explain without seeing them lol do u know what a palmetto is? i think they r called "saw palmettos" but around here its just palmetto lol anyway.. its an evil... plant/weed/thing.. the trails i ride in go through a huge palmetto forest in polk county florida... about 7 foot high palmettos on each side of the trails which r only wide enough for a quad to go through or a small truck... an sometimes they r long an u get up alot of speed... then out of nowhere its a winding twisting barely get out of second gear type ride... its not very safe riding where i do an not very uh.. legal.. sometimes lol its state owned land so u can ride on it an not goto jail... but u end up in alot of back yards also.. an other quads r always riding out there an the palmettos r so high u cant see whats around the turn until its to late lol hell.. i even hit a 200 pound wild hog riding at night one weekend...
ok i guess that rambling up there means the raptor would b best for the type of riding i do...

i have both a raptor and a kfx 700 and there are good and bad aboot both, the kfx is awsome on trails just because its a auto and shaft drive kicks butt no maitenece no chain to adjust ect. ground clearence is awsome on kfx too. the power is plenty too it will beat my raptor in a drag race i have hmf dual exhaust and a k&n filter. it is big and heavy but it is a fun machine not tippy like raptor but the raptor is really fun in the sand too were the kfx kind of sucks unless you change cluthing springs ect. i really like them both.
