My bike hauls *** and tears up China wall at Glamis along with the steepest hills at Dumont.

on pavement or gravel its not going to be a good launch for a banshee, their powerband hits harder and more violent then a 4-stroke which is inevitably why you were losing on the bottom end. If you were both in sand with appropriate paddles it could be a different race if you both had good starts.

 

Ok guys, heres my experience with the bansee vs yfz450. I have an 04 sheele completely stock, my buddy has an 05 yfz completely stock. On pavement we were dead even, for about a 1000ft stretch, gravel he smoked my ***. A lot has to do with driving experience and we are both pretty much novices when it comes to racing, i want to pipe the thing to see how much of a difference alone that would make. I have to admit his yfz is friggin torque crazy!!! i love it, but i personally thought the ride was not nearly as stable and smooth as that of the banshees.

 

I would have to disagree with you on that one.
The YFZ's do great on the sand too.
I have raced many Banshees out on the sand with the YFZ.
I can beat most Banshees I come up against unless they have a lot of money thrown into the motor.
Going up hills is where you can really see a difference.
I can tell you from experience, that none of the Banshees I have ever owned (a total of 5) would ever keep up with my YFZ.
None of the banshees I owned had any motor work done to them, but several had pipes, filters, reeds, etc.

Now, start throwing money into porting, bumping up the compression, advancing the timing, etc, etc, and yes, the Banshees will become the fasted quads out there, but at that point most aren't great for anything but dragging and hillshooting which accounts for only about 10% of the type of riding that I do.

 

you can build yourself a little 75hp 4mm banshee motor and it would be quiet tough for a 4-stroke to catch it in any riding environmnet. They have good torque and all around power which really helps them out.

Hell yea! I have a duner 7mm and it is a blast to ride! Ive duned all around and taken it on a 36 mile poker run in AZ(Not sand, desert riding) Its got plenty of torque!

It would be much easier to name the stock stuff left on them. In which case i have some stock cases (reworked of course), and a stock rear master cylinder and caliper, and much of the bottom end internals (less clutch, primary, crank, ect). Hope that helps a little bit. Scratching my head, but thats about it really, i guess the seat can still be considered stock as well as some of the chain guides and rollers...lol.
