They can't help you if you don't have the bike insured. I did some checking hopeing that homeowners/renters insurance would cover...it won't but it will cover a GOLF cart!! Insurance is just as bad as theives sometimes.

Well I figured he had a insurance policy on his quad other wise he wouldn't have mentioned it. I have a policy on mine for 150 a year. The quad is locked in my shed. Now if a thief comes along and cuts my lock off and takes it along with the quad, how would I be able to show the lock was there in the first place? I think I could fight the insurance company over that. I hope I never have to find out.

u cant say its about 200-250$, its varies to different extremes depending on Age/sex/location.....I;m an insurance Agent and it would cost me almost 850$ a year for full coverage on my 04 raptor with a clean driving record at the age of 20, This is also in ct one of the most exspensive states for insurance

So you may be able to answer some of the questions above?? If the owner takes out a policy for the quad and then its stolen, what happens?

you have to get a police report....get it yourself it will speed up the process....call your ins adjuster and make the claim.....take pictures of the damage(try and get your adjuster in the pic when you do it) but dont fix until the adjuster tells you to....they will come out get info and pics....theyll probably ask for proof you owned it...like pictures, receipt, etc. ....then theyll process it and drag it out..might lose or misplace the pics so thats why i say get your own with dude in it....and you should get paid a couple of weeks from then...thats how it worked for me anyway...oh yeah and jay is right about the premium....im in my mid 30's perfect record and down on the gulf coast and thats what it is around here..hes only 20...in the highest bracket!!..hope this helps

If you have theft it doesnt just cover you whiles its stored in a garage locked. That would be B/S insurance. So what happens when your at your friends house you turn ur quad off take the key out, walk inside to get a glass a water and come out 3 mins later and its gone? MY COMPANIES PAY FOR IT. lol if u have comprehensive they have to cover theft with in reasonable limits. Im actually gonna make a call to my underwriter and double check this. I'll post the results of my phone call. G/l

You went to the insurance company and asked what to do, and they said they cant help you, so you turned around and LEFT!! I would have thrown a huge fit, with yelling and cussing and pointing fingers and what not. You never did tell us what kind of policy you had.

Just got off the phone with my underwriter and as I assumed its just like a car, Its covered no matter where it is as long as its principally garaged at the address its supposed to be at. So If you were to leave your quad at my house for a week and it got stolen its covered. So if you have comprehensive coverage and they won't cover it I'd call BS, they should be covering it.
