I think I will just wake the Warrior up. At least I should give it a chance to come out from under its stock parts and then see if I want something bigger.

Now I know that the only way to get more top speed is to change the sprocket ratios. Because of my size (6'4, 230lbs) I think I have a hard time reaching my top speed fast enough. I'm not out of power when I reach top speed, I'm just out of gears. I get beat by a friend of mine who has a older blaster that is piped, .20 over bore, stock air filter, and I think his sprockets are changed out. I also get beat by a Forman Rubicon 500 and his top speed is around 60 (over a long distance). I remmeber beating him on a 1988 250x with a SUPER LOUD pro circuit pipe. The problem is i'm always beat off the line so I never know if the rest of the guys are just too far ahead for me to catch or if the Warrior is really THAT slow. NOW THIS IS NOT ALLOWED TO TURN INTO A BLASTER vs WHATEVER WAR!!! I'm just wondering if I should notice a big enough change from a UNI Filter,Pro Design intake, HMF sport slipon (without the quiet core) and rejet with a dyno jet kit. Does anyone have a view on running with or without an airbox cover? I plan to have an good outterwear on the filter. I never ride in open water but we do a lot of mudding. I would say that 25% of my riding is mudding and 75% is dirt/woods. I'm not good enough at jetting to be able to rejet the ATV on the fly so whatever I pick would have to be the way I run it.

From reading all the other forums that turned into TOTAL flame fests, the pro guys try to get across that its how fast you get up to speed, not how fast you can go. ATVs are as bad a ricer cars.. You can spend 8 weeks building a quad in your garage and some rich kid will buy a used drag bike and just be a total *** so I just want to have a fun ride and have people hear me coming.

u will definetly notice a difference with a pipe air box mod (highly recommended ) and then just get a jet kit they are real easy but make sure this is what u want to do being your size i think u would like something a little bigger but who knows.... back to modding it... yeh i would do the pipe mod and jets at the same time also u dont half to take the hole lid off your airbox u can get the vents for it which i think would work good for mudding.... after u do this i highly recomend getting a hot cam this was the last thing i did to mine before i sold it that made a huge difference and was only 160. oo and was easy to do as for gearing i had 1 tooth bigger for wide open areas and one tooth smaller for mudding they are real easy to change takes like ten minutes.... front sprocket that is

I have a 16 tooth front on mine but I'm 5 11 @ 150. But I put a 16 on front and left the back stock. I also put a hot cam in. I still need a high comp. piston. I'm thinking of taking the hotcam out and going to a stroker. But any way it pull's me fine and still has a lot of bottom.

Warrior's are what they are!

They are an old trail machine in their 100% stock form.

If you do some simple mods like exhaust, jet kit, air filter you will get enough bark out of the engine to keep up with larger displacement machines.

If you change the tires all around, and the handle-bars, you have a machine that's a bit more sporty, and will handle much better in the trails.

If you do all those things you have a machine that will compete with almost anything in the woods. No it's not going to beat everything, but with the right rider you can stay....let's say........ closer than the 400ex riders would like to see you.

Even if you go as far as new suspension all around, you still will not have an MX machine. But I've seen lots of Warriors at XC and Hare Scrambles races all over the place. Most of them are B-class-riders and C-class-riders but they are still there and having fun. And let's face it if you are an A-rider you are not keeping a Warrior around for anything more than nostalgia for your collection.

Having said all that I'm on the same freaking position in a sense. I either spend more money on my Warrior or trade it in for something new. I've toyed with the idea of a Z-400 and a new Raptor-350, but I still may end up keeping the Warrior another year.

I had a clean 2001 warrior , fmf powrcore 4 pipe , uni filter , pro flow , vented lid , razors all around , moose cr hi bars , dg skids and bumpers . I liked it , it would stay up with anything in the woods but it killed my knee joints because of the way warriors set . I traded it off and got a kodiak because I wanted a hunting machine . its super comfy . But if I were you I would cash in on the 3100 and get the raptor . even the new raptor 350s are a lot more comfy than the warrior . in a year or so you will be lucky to get 2200 out of your warrior . i got 2500 out of mine and no extras dont add to them when trading . ds 650s are way to big for a woods machine from the ones i rode . they got tons of power though .

The pictures of BaD04WarrioR's Warrior is enough to make up my mind. I'm sure most of you have seen his Warrior.. here is the link to his profile

I don't think I'll go that crazy but a nice set of rims/tires sure adds a lot.

Option A.......
What is it that you think you will miss about the wimpy Warrior that the Raptor couldn't give you back 10 fold? You can ride a Raptor slow too if you just want to putt around. If you buy the Raptor, the Warrior would just collect dust sitting in the garage.
