660Grizz vs. 750 Brute force ???
#12
My dad has a grizz, it's modded out. Its a sweet machine. It rides great at medium to high speeds, which is oppisite for the BF... or so i hear. My dad's has 28" Outlaws, clutch kit, exhaust, snorkel, and offset rims. The thing that would convince me would he the diff lock engagements. I've heard of praries and BFs getting stuck because they couldn't engage the diff-lock in the middle of a mud whole. On the grizz, all you have to do is push a button and pull it right out. But... I'm bias to yamaha, I've only ridden a kawasaki prarie once and not through a mud whole. But I've seen my dad pull a couple of Kawis out of the mud.

Brute is faster, But I think the Grizz handles better. Not by much though. I would recomend you check out the Brute 650 though. I would at least test ride it and see what you think. IMO the Brute Force 650 is the most fun to ride and the best buy on the market right now. Worth a look in my opinion. Its also a hair faster than the grizz and handles better yet.

I have a brute force and am very pleased with it have had no problem's with it. I took out a BF and grizz on the same day before I bought mine. The BF has way more power and idle smoother. The grizz rides smooth over the small bump but if you hit a big rut it throws you around the BF soaks up biiger bumps better. Neither are EFI both handle about the same. You should take both out and try them and decide on that not what people on the forums say

Hugeass is right As far as the diff lock not engaging thats not true.It s a clutch pack and you can do it on the fly as you need it.You might be thinking of the 4x4 engagement.Having been a Yamaha and Kaw owner I would have to say between the two the Brute is the way to go.It hands down has more power if thats important and I feel handles a tad better. The Yamaha belt system needs much less maintenance BUT the Kaw is tuneable for what you like. The BF also has a sealed brake like the Prairies which is very nice. There is really not a debate here on reliablility...both are ok and have had their share of issues. I would ride both and decide then.
Good luck

Has Polaris got their clutch/belt problems fixed yet? I enjoy watching people who spend $800 on big ITP tires/rims and then smoke a $50 dollar belt. I still wonder why Yamaha doesn't offer their larger 4x4 ATVs without a belt drive system. Honda spent tons of money engineering their ESP transmissions while everyone else is using a snowmobile clutch. Anyways, I have been told that Yamaha's belt drive system is a lot better than most so I would for sure go with the 660.

Yamahas belt system is better than Polaris's or Kaws hands down. The one way sprag and more importantly the belt is ALWAYS tight on the Yamahas....Polaris and Kaws they go loose on at idle. The belt IS the clutch.Yamaha has an internal centrifical clutch thats "breaks" the drive train.
