Default Metal Filings in oil filter

I'm on my second oil change,About 35 hrs.Changed it yesturday, about 1 and1/2 ribs on the filter were pluged..Whats normal?Should it clean up after this one. I know there should be normal wear, but this seems excessive. It was'nt this bad after the first one, on break-in.

When did you do the first oil change? Did you flush the engine then, or just drain out the oil?

Its not uncommon to see shavings in the oil during break in, but you should have seen them in the first oil change as well.

I changed the oil after the first tank of fuel. All I did was drop the oil,I let it drip for about an hour.Could it be just carry over from break-in.Did see some metal, but not like this.Did not flush it though.Never thought of it.I guess I could have used the Melon? The more I think about it,it makes since.A Yamaha never ridden?Ride it like you stole It.Thanks maddog 56.

Sounds like the shavings just took a while to surface. Did you change your filter after the first oil change? If not the filter could have recirculated a lot of it. I think you'll be alright, just keep an eye on it for the next oil change.

If your starter is making noise, these shavings could be from your one-way bearing.

I did change the oil filter. There does'nt seem to be any starter problems.I will just give it a few more hours of riding, and then drop the oil again. Then I guess I will know for sure.Thanks.
