How often do you grease a Grizzley?
#1
I have a question, how often do you have to grease a grizzley's drive shaft and rear IRS? The owners manual its says every 6 months or 150 hours. Is that enough? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

yes i would go with the manual...they normally are accurate...but it also depends on your use of the bike...if you drive through water and mud a lot then i would do every 3 months or so...(as i do)...everytime you power wash your bike u need to regrease because tha water pressure push's out the grease....hope that helps...

If its like the Kodiak ..Yes there are two zerks. One on each end of the driveshaft. I just took one rear tire off and turned the other till I could get right on one of the zerks on the drive shaft..No problem..Put that tire back on..took the other side off...turned the rear wheel till I could get the other zerk. I'm sure u could do it without taking the tires off but made it so much easier. I wonder if there are any more zerks besides the 2 on the driveshaft and 4 in the rear?

Just got my 05 Red Kodiak 450, and there are also 2 fittings on the front driveshaft as well as 2 on the rear driveshaft and the 4 in the rear IRS arms. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get at the ones on the front driveshaft. I guess a needle end would work on the grease gun, but didn't try it yet.

Humm makes sense I just didn't realize there was a front drive shaft too..Never really looked closely but will tonight at home. Must be harder to see/get at. I do remember reading before that the only way to access the front ones were with a needle point. Hope I have better luck..>Before I realized I could put the greese gun right on the rear driveshaft zerks I tryed a needle point and greese come out where I was trying to put it in the zerk..Then I pushed harder and bendt and broke the needle. Yeah That would be 8 total zerks. I just got done changing my rear zerks with 45 degree angle zerks. Now I can just put my greese gun right on them without messing around. What were they thinking with those straight zerks back there?

Yea, I just tried one of those needle ends, and had the same thing happen as you did. Grease coming out everywhere except where it is supposed to. If any of you guys find a better way, would appreciate passing the info along. And yes, there are 8 fittings total.
