Baja is like no "trail ride "
If you have ever ridden the desert, which I have and I have done trail rides too (Utah is the best), you would know that.
A YFZ finished in the top 5 the last 2 years in the Baja.
FSW will see a YFZ/450R chakllenging the KOTH in the next two years , IMO. The ESR 480 was close last year, on a 1 year old quad.
CPC's YFZ from Utah runs as fast on our bigger, steeper hill, at 5000 feet elevation, as the winner of FSW was clocked at. Not saying it will win, or would have won, but the 450's can run with any big bike.

I have to respectfully disagreee with all the above..
THe YFZ will and has handed many drag big block fully built Raptors its lunch. Read the Scicly Drags thread.
The YFZ is not only a good MXer, its a good duner, and a good trail bike. The Raptor is old school technology, heavy, tall, and narrow.
IMO the only reason to buy a Raptor is to say you have 660 cc's.

the shorter the drag the better chance the yfz will have but with my 690 i had some that were to close on a hill but the longer the hill the farther away i would pull..they are fast bikes and i actuelly own both, will did i had a Craycraft 690 and now bought a 05 YFZ and the minor mods i did it pulls pretty damm hard for a 450, I love it....

There is supposed to be some really fast 450's at the track this year so I will let you know more on this, maybe get you some pics of the Rappy pulling a few lengths on them! I hope you make it to Aledo RaptorMan, you will be absolutely amazed at the drag YFZs. I used to think like you until they fed me sand over and over again at Sicily. They come out of the hole so much faster than a Raptor, 300 feet is not enough to run them down.

I raced many fast yfzs last year at the dunes on my 690 raptor and i can tell you that if they are built any further than a pipe and cam mod you will do better in a race longer than 300 feet. The built yfzs come out of the hole much faster than most built raptors but the larger displacement of a big bore raptor can catch up .I come out of the hole pretty fast on my 690 because i had my flywheel lightened so my revs build fast and from there my top end LTE exhaust takes over and does a good job for the rest of the race.I would have to agree with what some others have said about there is no replacement for displacement.
