the yfz is fast, no doubt, as said before the shorter the race the better they do, and they know that as well, every time I line up with one they move 10ft up at every start, you end up with a 150ft drag strip,
it's like a game- how short can we make the strip, it's really stupid if you stop and think about it, who wants to drag a gear and a half only, just wasting the motor, if you don't want to race 300', go to the kiddie section.
All steam blowed off, a BUILT and SET-UP big block will mop up a 450, both on motor only, in 300'

I hope to run some fast ones at Snake-Hunt next weekend, and it will be @300' plus only, if they win I will congrad. them, and then go home and build mine yet faster, but they are peaked and on the ragged edge, and will not get much faster, as I have room to play further.

See ya'll there

I hope you make it to Aledo RaptorMan, you will be absolutely amazed at the drag YFZs. I used to think like you until they fed me sand over and over again at Sicily. They come out of the hole so much faster than a Raptor, 300 feet is not enough to run them down.
Ubet I know I will not make it down to Aledo. We planned that trip once and it didn't pan out. Then after the location was changed I heard so many of the people from down that way crying about up to KY when we were going to make an even longer trip to come down there! Maybe its just me being a baby but I will make the trip to KY or somewhere closer but Aledo is out!

As for the 450's I'm not going to try to take away from them and I watched the tapes from Sicily and yes they are fast, but when I run at the local track I run a wheelie bar and come out on the bottle... I just don't see one of these guys getting me by enough off the line to pull the race in 300.... NOW I may be wrong! LOL And any 450 that wants to come up and run is welcome to prove it to me.

By the way I am sending you a PM...

THe YFZ will and has handed many drag big block fully built Raptors its lunch. Read the Scicly Drags thread.
The YFZ is not only a good MXer, its a good duner, and a good trail bike. The Raptor is old school technology, heavy, tall, and narrow.
IMO the only reason to buy a Raptor is to say you have 660 cc's.
1.) how is it 'old school' technology? wow i love how kids say that just because its only got ONE CAMSHAFT OMG!! NO
2.) after watching/reading all the results at the four stroke wars drag racing i have yet to see a yfz come out on top, its always raptors and bombis
3.) compared to other quads the raptor is not that heavy, yeah its tall and narrow because its meant for trails

why does everyone just have to hate so much? i mean i dont come into threads and tell u how much of a pile ur suzuki is now do i? i just keep it to myself and laugh

1) Yes in today's fast pace world, it is old school technology. Is there anything wrong with old school? NO, but it just doesn't have the latest and greatest anymore. And a 450r has 1 cam, and that isn't old school.
2) Rappy's and Bomb's have years of R&D, wait a little while and see who comes out on top.
3) Compared to utilities, a Raptor isn't heavy, if that is what you mean.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Raptors, there just talking about drags. So instead of keeping to myself, I point out and laugh while Im riding off on my pile of Zuki

Zim,
I did not tell anyone their bike was anything. I said a Raptor is old techmnology, it is, the engine is from the 80. You know what else is old school tech? A small block Chevy, and you know what I have quite a few of them, and I would not trade them for a FI dohc V6 any day.
Drag racing is not hillshooting, we were talking about dragracing, right? Up the hill the TQ a big bore machine can make, is an advantage. On flat ground the little fast revving 450 class bikes get a jump that cannot be made up as easily.
At 4SW4 there was a 450 based bike that was modified a bit , and it ran right past ALL comers with 4 strokes, and most with 2.
Tall Heavy, and narrow is a crappy combination for the trail, drag strip or the track. Its tall becasue it has such a tall engine.
My 470R and my Z400 can run circles around 95% of the 650+ class machines. Its just a weight, and accelerating advantage over the big bores.

KGB-If you are saying that your z 400 will run circles around 95% of the 650+ class machines i would have to see that to believe it.I have seen many heavily modded z 400 quads and i have yet to see one that is extremely fast .If you are talking about a fully modded z 400 against a totally stock raptor or ds then i could agree but other than that i just dont see it.I have seen and raced a few very fast 450 hondas that ran close to my 690 raptor but on a longer hill the extra torque does them in eventually.A properly set up ds 650 with a pipe ,air filter and jetted correctly wil out run any z 400 that i have ever seen but maybe your z 400 is considerably faster than what i have seen here in oregon. My raptor is just one of the fastest that we have where i ride but the fastest of the raptors will take a 450 honda without too much of a problem.I am not trying to start an argument with you but i am just stating the facts as i have seen and experienced them.
