I think the 700 has a ton of potential for the reasons you just mentioned, but the weight and auto tranny are holding it back right now. Eventually I think we will see some fast 700 around. Hell there may be some around right now... I just haven't seen any locally.

IMO the YFZs are coming closer and closer to the raptors & DSs in drags. RIS designs alky yfz kept up with the DS & Raptors at FSW4. And the esr trx480 was very close to the two raptors in the king of the hill race, one was turboed (kenz) and the other, a stroker (740 i think, mannys bike from miami), what do you say about that, ccs dont mean squat. Also Sparks Flying EX was keeping up and beating modified YFZs.

KGB- I am glad that i didnt ruffle your feathers too bad.I like to sit back and enjoy these posts usually but i had to get in on this one because i had experienced what was being discussed. The suzuki that i mentioned is a 440 i believe and i will admit that it is very fast for a 440 but still it isnt quite what a properly built big bore raptor or yfz are but with everything done just right i could see a suzuki being able to keep up with the big boys.As far as my raptor being in the top 5% i would say that is true so i really cant use its performance as an example. With all the opinions being expressed here it is still true that a 450r,suzuki,or even a very well built 440 ex with the best of (everything) and built by the best mechanic could dominate over the raptors and yfzs but that would be a rare case. These discussions are very good way for all of us to learn what works and what doesnt even if we dont always on what that is.I am myself considering having a street bike motor professionally installed in my baja frame in the future for strictly drag racing because that set up would only have limitations of performance set by the riders willingness to go for it or not.
