so no matter what modifications the yfz has, a well built rap will still win? cus i wasn't really sure what would be better to invest my money on a rap or yfz. just kind of confused cus of all the talk about how the yfz is fast, but i haven't really gone against a well modified yfz or heard how it's done against a good rap.

let's just say you can get more bang for the buck on the yfz, with minor mods it can hang with some semi- built rappys out there, but dump $5,000 in both motors and the big-block will begin to shine as long as you can keep up with out of the hole, it all comes down to set-up.
Do not under-estimate the yfz's though , they are fast when fully-built.
H/P to weight ratio on the yfz is a major factor, but a fully built big-block will make them work hard for the win to say the least.
Both are great engines to build upon, both will go fast, just comes down to personal preferance, and what type of riding or drag racing you're in to.

If it's strictly drag racing then you would build the 660cc as there is no replacement for displacement. Check out those guys at Craycraft racing and you will see. The YFZ is a MX bike period, it not a great trailer, or duner because it is built as the best MX bike to dominate that circle. And it does just that.

I have to respectfully disagreee with all the above..
THe YFZ will and has handed many drag big block fully built Raptors its lunch. Read the Scicly Drags thread.
The YFZ is not only a good MXer, its a good duner, and a good trail bike. The Raptor is old school technology, heavy, tall, and narrow.
IMO the only reason to buy a Raptor is to say you have 660 cc's.

i agree the yfz is an MXer it wasent built for the long haul of trail riding becuz the seat isnt even comfortable that would b my clue altho it isnt that bad on the dunes but u dont see the yfz winning the baja 1000's u see then winning MX whihc is far from a baja 1000 and i think that a well built raptor should be faster although iv heard talk of a 508 yfz thats hasent lost many races and can beat a yfz w/ cam mod and nos and a yfz w/ all possibly mods except nos

yfz's do mx races short races consisting of variouse jumps and obstacles raptors are used for trail riding which consists of MANY obstacles over long periods of time the baja 1000 is far from a short race w/ various jumps and obstacles its more lik a VERY VERY long fast trail ride of numerous terrains..... i no that has nothing to do w/ drag racing or drag kits btu i was adding on to livin in vegas's post that a yfz is a MX BIKE nothing more nothing less
