#1
HI I have a raptor 660 2002 just recently when going to ride it wouldnt start when it turned over it just made a vrrrrrrrrrrinnnng sound so i checked the starter and all gears in crankcase nothin showin wrong i even reversed the starter gear thinkin the teeth could be worn the funny thing is if u turn the crank to the compression stroke and put everything back together and push the start button it makes a grinding sound once or twice and starts but cut it off and hit the button and it makes a terrible grinding sound and then it sounds like the starter cant connect any help would be appreciated.

Bad news... Its your "one way starter gear"
If you are going to have to replace it I have heard nothing but good things from the LA Design one way it is supposed to be alot tougher then the stock one. I will be going with the LA when I have to change mine...

yea its your one-way, typical on 660r's. go to www.raptortranny.com you can purchase the L&A one-way on their and it gives you instructions on how to install it, good luck.
