Modded raptor carbs....
Im still just not sure what carb set up to be running after my project. Im building up a 727 and am hoping i can get away with just moddifying the stock carbs. But, if this is going to cost more than or around $400, i might as well just go all out and get new carbs or a single carb setup. Any advice for a strong running 727?

My carbs were modded by Kenz for my 727. The mods include half-floats, dual inlets, larger needle and seats, and a few other mods I can't remember(it's been over two years since they were done). I couldn't be happier with their performance. Start's easy with a flip of the choke lever. And goes to a high idle just like a stocker.

Not everyone has an 800-1000 dollar carb budget. Now I understand because you've spent every dime you can on your engine and purchased the best and most expensive parts out there and thats great. You have an incredible machine to show for it. But its just not in the cards for everyone. We dont all need Ti rods, cryo'd internals, ceramic coated internals, 3k dollar suspensions (I know your bike is now a dragster), etc. Its great that you can have it, but not all of us can and while it may slightly reduce hp or reliability here and there the important bases are still covered.

Wow, this is happening more and more often, i totally agree with maddog, f- the moly ti-rod, who can affrord to drop 6 bills on a rod. Aside from the fact that he has money obviously falling out of his a$$. Thats not a problem, i myself build on a budget and ALOT, and i emphasize ALOT of thinking goes into it before i start spending money. A stock carbs 727 will have trouble getting fuel delivery, i think the biggest you can go is a 200 jet, stallion's 686 run like 195's, i think. i run 175/180. minkuni doent make jets big enough for a 727 to run at sea level. now for where you live pennsylvania i have no idea what your need to jet at. but i dont think youll need anything near a 200 jet for that bike. Now all of this above info is for sea level where i'm at. oops i thought rider had a 727, what the heck, sorry got a little off subject. Rider1169 if you can afford to drop the 1k on the FCR's they are well worth the price, and your looking at a powergain also. But if yoru on a budget teh modded carbs are the only way to go. Your going to get a power increase just not as much as a new set of FCR's, their are several people on here that had the modded carbs on here at some point in time, and they like the outcome. You choice $350, or $1k. But if you plan on going with the bore or something special at anytime in the future i would strongly think about the FCR,s but then again you can always sell you modded carbs and get your money back out of them. I use the stock carbs with 175-180 mikuni mains and i found that anything bigger just doesnt work for me.At some point in the future i may get my stock carbs modded or do it myself but they do very well on my 690 as is.I have raced a very fast 690 raptor that has FCR carbs and the advantage that he has over me(2 quad lengths in 300 feet) with the FCR carbs just doesnt seem worth it to me.My 690 is far from being stock internally so if the stock carbs can give me the performance that i get then they should be good enough for most.

You guys are getting a little personal.
Instead of busting my *****, maybe you should take advice from someone that's learned the hard way. Pay once, cry once. If you save a little longer to get the best, you usually come out ahead in the long run.
