Default Kodiak 450

Going to look for a 4X4 in a few months. I dont want a tank but want something powerful enough I wont regret the purchase. I think I'm liking the Kodiak 450. Any owners that can tell the good and the bad of them or anyone have a better suggestion to look at thanks.

It's not a hot rodder, but it's got plenty of power to be fun. It has a very comfortable ride, starts incredibly well at any temp, and is easy to manuver. For slow trail rides, I prefer it to the prairie. It's also one of the only machines in it's class that has a low range and a diff locker. If you aren't looking for flat out performance, the kodiak450 is a really nice blend of capability, performance, and price. I'm glad I got mine.

I bought a polaris magnum 425 in '98....loved it, but had to sell it to finish up school. I bought a 2003 model a year ago and sold it within 6 months due to the lack of ooomph. When I got rid of the rancher, I wanted something similar to the performance of the magnum. Polaris quit making the 425 for some ungodly reason and stepped it down. I researched the Prairie 360, Eiger, Rancher AT, Big Bear, Kodiak, and Foreman.I didn't want a big bore quad....something smaller with similar features and performance to the Magnum. I bought a Kodiak 450. I freakin' love it. I haven't had the opportunity to add any mods, but the stock performance of this machine is awesome. It's got enough top end to zoom up and down trails with plenty of mojo for the woods. You can't go wrong with this one. I got mine for 5700 out the door, tax and all, at Bardwell Yamaha in Brookhaven, MS.

I purchased a new 05 Kodiak in November, and I am totally pleased with it. It has plenty of power, smoth ride, and as mentioned before part-time 4wd, and a diff lock. I have nearly 600 miles on it, and have had zero problems. I did replace the stock tires with radials, but that was my choice, not out of need. My fire chief just purchased a new Kodiak last week, after seeing how well mine has performed over the last few months, he was sold on buying one. There are other good machines out there, but I think the Kodiak is a good choice.

Bberck - I suggest going to ride one. It all depends on how fast you want to go. For me, I would NOT have the kodiak as my only quad. I like a quad with a lot of power/acceleration/speed, and the kodiak is not that. What it is , is an incredibly well balanced and capable machine - a jack of all trades. Now I'm not saying it's slow, but it's not going to put that tingle in your spine when you nail the gas. It does have plenty for keeping up with most, and IMO the kodiak dominates any other choice in that class.

Bought my Kodiak back in December, and now have about 500 miles on it. And I could not be more happy with my purchase, the Kodiak is awesome. My only complaint would have to be the fuel milage. I hope it gets a little better in the next 500 miles after it's broken in. Buy one you won't regret it.

Thanks for all the posts. It sounds like what I am looking for, it will be my 2nd machine. Im going to keep my warrior and have the kodiak for wife to use if both go and me to use when go on long ride days with family or if we ride together.
