A 450 4-stroke will not last like typical 4-strokes, they actualy require more maintnance and money to keep them up than a 2-stroke will need. And when the 2-strokes top end goes bad all you need is piston and rings, 4-strokes you need that and valves and what not.

As for riding them, I like the 2-strokes better for a couple reasons, I just like 2-stroke power in dirtbikes for one, on 2-wheels I want pretty much all the power at once, they are cheaper and easier to maintain, a little lighter and most handle better.


I could be wrong, but it sounds like you don't have a lot of experience on dirtbikes, or at least hi-performance ones. If so, I recomend getting something smaller because these are a lot of bike, so becarefull if you do get one.


BTW, if you get a 450, I highly recomend the CRF450, it really is the best package of the 450's for right now. All of the Jap 250 2-strokes are pretty equal and very good, the last 3 years of YZ250's are VERY good.
