I have a Raptor and bought a 04 YFZLE so I could have both and sold the YFZ two months later because it is the most uncomfortable quad to ride for long periods of time. The seat is hard as heck and the suspension beats you to death also it feels very small and cramped (I am 6"2 200 lbs). It jumped awesome and looks cool but if you ride mostly trails than stay away from it unless you are only wanting to race. Just my 2 cents.

I would difenately trade. I have some friends with raptors (less all the time, their all getting 450's!), and I've ridden them quite a bit. They are pretty comfortable to sit on when your just hangin out, but the rideability, in my opinion, absolutely sucks in the raptor. And I would disagree with the raptor guy who said that the yfz is the most uncomfortable bike there is! While there are certainly more comfortable bikes out there, I have no problem putting 30 hours on it in a weekend! I'm also a good deal smaller than he is at 5'9" and 175. I think that the raptor is way too tippy, is awkwardly set up, and has poor ergonomics. Get the yfz. no question. Nothin against raptors, their a whole lot better than many bikes on the market today. The 450's just better!

I wanted to add that I didn't mean any disrespect to any raptor riders, nor the guy that sold his yfz and kept his raptor. I was just stating my opinion. No harm intended, and nothin against anybody who happens to like raptors, I just really don't.

This topic comes up about twice a week. You can type in this post question and get a whole lot of information from both Raptor and YFZ owners there. If your not racing you don't need the YFZ, people are buying it because it's the hot bike and then selling it because they have no intention of racing it. Then they want a better suited bike for trail riding that is more forgiving with the throttle.

something that made my mind up i went to the dealer in town and they didnt have the raptor 660r in but had the yfz however i weigh like 190-200 lbs 5'8 and they said i'm not really a big guy and the yfz450 would rip and no doubt the 660r would to but yfz has gas shocks all around weighs like 85-100lbs less than raptor and there are a grip of upgrades you can do... look at my pics even too... and i rode my friends raptor and i thought it was fast.... i thought twice after riding the yfz of mine ;-) and it is very comfortable to ride....

Hey guys, keep in mind that alot can be done to make the YFZ a more comfortable "trail rider". There is no reason to complain about a stiff seat, or stiff suspension, or about the YFZ being small and cramped feeling.

First of all, if you guys want to feel a stiff seat try riding a YZ motocross bike, now those seats feel like you are sitting on a brick, LOL. At least two companies will re-do your seat on your YFZ, with an inch more foam if that is what you want --- JetTrim, and ExtremeQuadCovers are the two companies that come to mind.

Changing to AC Pro Pegs improves ergonomics for bigger riders, if you get the lowered version that are 1/2" lower and 1/2" farther back than the stock pegs.

Changing to a +1 or +2 steering stem will improve ergonomics for bigger riders, especially if combined with a set of CR high bend handlebars.

And as far as "stiff suspension" goes, ... come on folks, snag a clue, LOL. The YFZ has great suspension, that is very easy to tune in to your likeing. Ever notice that little adjustment clicker on the shock reservoir? It changes compression damping, LOL, so if it feels too stiff, then turn down the compression damping. We turn our YFZ down four clicks on the compression damping for trail riding, and it is downright plush on that setting.

Peace out.
