Well, this moring i decided to ride my fourwheeler to school , so i got ready, tried to start it, and all it would do is just turn over from the starter, but would never really kick over, like have the plug fire. I tryed with the choke on for like 30 seconds, then took it off and kept on trying, theres gas in it and everything. I tryed for 5 minutes with the choke on and off. Sometimes it would kick, but barely, you could barley hear it. If any of you have any suggestons please help..TIA

 

did u check for spark? clean out the air filter good. is there old gas in it? is the fuel line " obstructed" or clogged or anything?

 

you have a 660 raptor right? well i would first clean the carb, i would take the spark plug out and feel if the motors turning over or not by the amount of air pushing out. My friend had a problem like that only when he kicked it after like 3 or 4 kicks it would lock up kind of like it siezed or something, it ended up being the compression getting to high and the reason for that was that the vavles wern't opening on time, he retimed it and i truly have no clue how they came off time. But if it continues to happen i'd take it to a mechanic that knows what he's looking at.

 

If the starter is spinning but the engine isnt...its your starter one way bearing thats crapped out. Mine just went out this month so Im going to replace it with a L&A design bearing and gear ($250).

 

thats what im trying to figuer out, if the enigne is turning over, then it isnt getting fuel, but if the starter is making noises but the engine aint turning over, then u need a new starter or there is a problem with the solenoid, wether lose connections or u just need a new one.

 

Nah, it turns the engine over and everything...im going to go look at it right now...and see if i can find the problem

 

well, then what do u need for an engine to run? spark, fuel and compression. check for spark, check if it is getting fuel, clean float bowl, check fuel line, look for clogg...

 

I know this stuff...my dads a master mechanic, so ive learned a lot from him. I just posted this topic incase someone else on here had this same problem and he/she solved it. So they could tell me what it was and how they fixed it. Its getting air, and im almost sure its getting feul. Im beginning to thinks its spark...im going to go check it out in a minute

believe it or not, its legal in some states. lol. i could do that, trails from my house go right to my school, but, no. hey, get a new spark plug, or check for spark. its not hard.
