I want to pickup a half decent quad, and I am looking at a 02 500I Auto cat 4wd for 3500.00 .. I have seen some 400 Kodiaks in the same year and price range. I have heard that the cats are a tad on the slower side. This is not a huge problem,but I want to get the best bang for my buck. This is my 1st wheeler,so I have very little experience. Would the 03 cats be stronger than the 02s. And,are the 01-02 kodiaks as strong as a 04. i dont know about the newer kodiaks but my 2000 is a bear. my town gives dirt away when they clean ditches and drains for the road and they brought me 16 dump truck loads of it i used the kodiak with plow blade to push dirt level and had NO prob. totaly amazed at low range just lots a power. i know its not a speed demon. but imo just awesome..
