05 Kodiak 450 top speed?
#1
I rode the Kodiak for the first time today. put over 30 miles on it. The tires seem to roll under at low speeds,Put 2 more pounds of air in the tires seems to of helped some. The brakes squeal like mad.
I noticed that on a say a 500 foot driveway its top speed is like 31 mph (seems slow to me). I normally ride a RM 250, Am I expecting to much out of the 450. It just dont seem like a 450 would be hurting on the power end. I couldnt imagine a 400 if its so underpowered. I would dread a steep incline on this machine. I rode a Polaris 250 two stroke years ago and it seemed to have better pick up than this 450.

Thought the same thing when I got my Kodiak in March of this year. I opened it up and got 53 mph. I didn't want to hammer on it too much, because I only have 50 miles on mine. Seemed like it could go a little bit faster but I ran out of room.

I would imagine it would have to be better than that. Seriously, and no BS on this, I got 51 out of my Honda 300 with a GPS once, but granted this was out on a paved road, and it took forever and a day to get there. And of course, the slightest incline at all made it drop back down. This was about 5 years ago with a Magellan 315 GPS. The same thing clocked my Arctic Cat 500 at 52.8 for the best average on flat pavement.

I had my girlfriends dad 04 to 55 on flat pavement last weekend. Pretty peppy for a 4x4 if you ask me.

i don't know guys, i rode my friend's kodiak 400 down a straight level gravel road and topped out at 60. i would emagine the 450 could go 62-63, unless you guys are in low range or have california models.
