see i agree with maddog(again) your wrong EFI isnt going to make more power than a carb, true it will be more consistant. But like say the dunes, the EFI is going to perform better, due to elavation increase/decrease. but on a track the carb is going to work perfectly. EFI will give you the same power increase as a PERFECTLY tuned carb, it runs just like a carb does on its best day. I've personally talked to KMS (lives 5 min away) these are the words that come out of his mouth. A good set of FCR's are going to perform just as well as fuel injection. But once you start chaing humidity, alitude, and temperature the EFI will truely shine. KMS uses EFI on all his turbo bikes due to the fact that no carb can feed the turbo.(well not to say a carb can't, but he hasnt found one he likes) Plus the EFI mapping software is some trick a$$ sh*t, plan on dropping $1400 for injection, and $900 on a set of FCR'S.

The XT660 that is availible in Europe and Africa has a 660cc EFI motor in it. The crank case is an exact match to that of the Raptor. The head is different. It uses a smaller head, dual cam, 4 valve setup with a massive single intake similar to that of a YFZ. Stroke and bore is a match to the raptor motor. Bolt patterns of the XT660 head and the raptor head is a match. It would be a breeze for Yamaha to install that motor into the raptor frame. Even the exhaust port openings and dimensions for the exhaust fitting looks the same as the raptor's. Bolt patterns to mount the motor to the frame is a match to. They only have to make a new airbox and intake tubes and that motor is ready to go on a production raptor. The gearbox from the raptor is already there and working fine, so no worries there either.

On the XT660 that setup makes 49HP in stock form. Stock raptor motor pushes out about 36HP on the same dyno. With a new pipe and some better intake airflow, that XT660 motor can go well into the 50HP range. With some new cams, higher compression piston and some basic mods it might even be able to push 60 + HP.

I also have a suspension that Yamaha is going to make EFI raptors for next year, but we wait and see. If they do it, it will be something special and will put them ahead of the competition.

Then again, even if they do it, they will clamp down on the power output, since that is what they all do on ATV’s.

EFI can take a flyin leap IMO (along with the dual carb setup)

give me 1 carb that is large enough to handle some mild mods,,,,and I'll be happy (stock)

Thanks for elaborating freez, as I said the Raptor engine already has efi on the bike. But a displacement bump to around 700cc would not be on the current engine and would require a new powerplant, stroke and debore or a much larger jug.

Someone is just blowing smoke up my **** now...

More like "educated" statements. I'd feel good if 75% come true..
