Gas mileage for a Kodiak and Bruin??
#1
Recently picked up an 05 Kodiak 450 and an 05 Bruin 350. I want to know what kind of mileage should I be expecting riding on mountain trails. There are no mods on either bike yet and want to take them camping for the weekend. How far should each bike go on a tank of gas, how far will the reserve tank get ya?
Thanks for the help!!!

How ya dowen body, wer hav ya ben.
I sugest, to take with you 6 gallons of gas.
Go to where ever you like, once you finish the main tank and the sub tank, stop, and do what I will tell you in the next few lines.
Take your 6 gallon gas and fill the tank(s).
Ride back to your car, stay near your car if you wish.
Then go home.
Thats all, over.

My first ride out on my Kodiak I got about 50 miles not using reserve.
My brother in-law got about the same on his bruin not using reserve.
Gas milage will increase once the bikes are broke in.

A friend just bought a 350 Bruin. His fuel consumption was exactly the same as my 600 Grizzly.

In the mountains of Colorado my wolverine (2000) with 25" tires and the rest of the bike stock, I can go right at about 110miles on one tank of 91 octane. However, my father with 23's (1995) with a White brothers pipe on it can go nearly 150 miles. Both of these readings DO NOT include the reserve tank.
When traversing the mountians We carry one of those "flat tanks" on my rear rack. Never needed it with a Wolverine, but its better safe than sorry.
