You could use pressurized air to blow the chain off if your in that much of a hurry or if its the end of the day for you, just put the bike up and lube it before the next ride. There will be enough residual lube residue to allow you to drive it into the garage or wherever you store it, just don't ride it hard until you have relubed the chain.

I usually wait until riding the bike about 5 minutes to warm up the chain before applying chain lube.

I have been spraying wd40 on wet chains for over 20 years and have never seen a o-ring deteriorate before. I am not saying the wd40 is good for the o-ring just havnt seen it have a bad effect on them.

Most likely it is to warm the chain up a bit to help the chain lube to penetrate the chain.[/quote]

You are correct i forgot to mention the chain would get warmed up.

i just lightly squirt it with wd 40 and use a chain scrubber to clean it then i wash the rest of the bike and let it dry before using chain lube
i hope that the little wd 40 that i use hurts anything but if so its too late now
ill try again on the next chain

what should i clean the chain with then
any sugg.
i use a cahin scrubber but what should i use to clean off the dirty wax
