2001 Yamaha Blaster - no spark
I would greatly appreciate any help with this problem.
A little background the Blaster was stolen and recovered so the ignition wiring was cut. I do not have a manual yet which I'm trying to get (local dealer sold out). I'm running out of time. I'm leaving for a four-wheeling trip this weekend.
The following are some questions and things that I tried:
1. Are their only two ignition wires, black and black/white? I hooked these two wires together. No spark.
2. When trying to kick start the lights dimmly shine.
2. Replaced spark plug. No spark.
3. Checked wires with scuffs running to the thumb throttle. Open circuit with thumb throttle in resting position. Closed circuit with thumb throttle pressed.
4. Voltage regulator - open circuit (extremely high resistance).
5. Coil - Closed circuit between red and black wire. Very High resistance between red wire and spark plug boot.
I'm not sure what if any of these tests help.
Thanks a lot!

Try disconnecting the two wires that went to the ignition switch. If I remember correctly when the two wires are connected it will not start and if you disconnect them it should start or atleast you should get spark if I remember how the ignition system works.
