Default Backfiring Banshee

I have a 95 shee it has not run in a couple of years. I got it running it idles fine. At about 1/8 to1/4 throttle it starts to backfire and pop. Could it be a piston , stuck ring or a cylinder? I checked the reeds ,is it common for the reed not to lay perfectly flat? There a small gap maybe a couple mm. Could it be to rich or something in the carbs? HELP!!!!

If it sat for a couple years and you didnt treat the gas, or drain it, I would guess your carbs are all gunked up. Probably will have to take the carbs apart and clean them .

I think you nailed it on the head with the description of the reeds. They should lay flat in the reed cage. Sometimes they can be flipped over and flatten out..........otherwise they should be replaced.
