Bayou 220 vs. blaster
#12
TheQuadFather...I have to disagree.
From the January 1998 issue of 4-Wheel ATV Action:
"Daniel Giroud, riding on a near-stock Yamaha Blaster 200 became the first ATVer in history to finish the famous Paris-to-Drakar rally."
BTW...the according to the mag the rally is 5300 miles long not the 1000 that I had stated.

Every one of the preceding replies seems to have missed the fact that the focus of the two machines in question, the Blaster and the 220 Bayou, are completely different!
The Bayou is an entry level utility quad.
The Blaster is an entry level sport quad.
Due to their entirely different focus, contrasting these two quads is a lot like comparing apples and oranges. You must first determine your riding priorities, before you can rationally select one or the other.
If speed, or the perception thereof, is important then the Blaster may be right for you.
If the ability to carry a useful load and perform light-to-medium duty work, while maintaining the ability to trail ride and have fun under less than arduous conditions is important, then the Bayou may be right for you.
In any event, until you sort out the kind of riding/working you plan to do, there is little point in doing a head-to-head comparision of the Blaster and the Bayou.

dont get the new bayou 220s like 2000 because they are way too small my 1990 is taller and it looks a lot bigger too, go with the blaster they are a lot more funner the the bayou my friend lets me ride his blaster and when i get off it and back on the bayou it just feels way under powered. You need to look at the bayou 300 2wd if you want a bayou, it has a lot better suspension lot more power faster and has the locking rear diff, plus its just about as fast as the blaster.
