Default Warrior Engine Problems? HELP!

I have a 1997 Yamaha Warrior, and I made the BIG mistake of letting my sister take it out and ride with her friends. Of course, she takes it muddin. Now it will not run good at anything above idle. It Idles good, but if you give it any gas at all it will just just popping/ spuddering, or i guess a constant backfireing. I opened up the airfilter and it was all muddy, cleaned it, then took the carberator apart and cleaned it out. Now it will run fine while its cold, but after the engine warms up it goes back to backfireing. Can anybody help me?

It has a Jetkit and they put 87 octane in it, I have always run high octane, Dont know if that would help or not.

Default Warrior Engine Problems? HELP!

I know there is not a hole in my piston, I run the 93 octane. I dont think any mud can make it through the carberator and into the engine. It idles fine, then after that its constant backfiring, but if i floor it, it cuts off.

Sounds like the choke is stuck to me. Or the airbox is plugged.

Not to pick at you, but 93 octane in a basically stock motor is a waste, it burns slower than regular gas, and you won't see any improvement in performance, unless you put a higher compression piston in and a good exhuast system. 87 octane will actually give you more power stock, it burns faster, and is a lot cheaper. Now for the backfiring, have you checked the parking brake switch? they like to go bad, and will not allow you to go much over idle if it thinks the parking brake is on, causing the motor to sputter and barely run above idle. There should be a couple of black wires going to a plug that comes from the parking brake bracket, unplug it and see if that helps, other wise, you may still have a passage in the carb that is blocked, fine mud or water can be a real bear to get out of tiny orifices, after spraying carb cleaner in all ports, blow it out with an air gun and see if that helps.

Most likely it sounds like your parking brake rev limiter. on the cutchperch there is a lil lil button like sensor tracer the wire from there to the plug and unplug it. if it runs fine thats yoru problem and leave it uplugged. that was the dumbest idea they ever had on a warrior.

OK, I have never heard anything about a parking break thing like yall are talking about. There are 2 cables that come into it and also 2 wires. 1 Clutch cables, and I dunno what the other one is for, I guess e-brake, but the 2 places where those black wires come in, I dont know which one. Should I unhook them from there or where they run town into the plastic like in the wiring harness. I should prob. try to take a picture of it for yall or something.

About the gas, before I went to college I didnt know anything about gas and octane levels. I know you are not going to get any more power out of it. Its the same gas, except it has a higher octane level in it, which is your restistance to detonation, or the anti-knock property. The more compression, the higher octane fuel you will use. I really dont know why I still run it, I just do. But no offense taken, I would say the same thing if it was the other way around.
