I have a Recon, and it will run 47 mph flat out, wide open. I installed a Schwinn bicycle speedo on it.

Ok, a beartracker will not touch 50. Maybe 45 if you get lucky. Beartracker can not beat my brothers Honda TRX 200. Ha Ha.

A kodiak will not touch 65 mph either. Hell, my 660 griz will get 60 on a gps at best on level pavement and that takes a long stretch to get there.

I don't see you even modifying it and getting 65 out of it. Do you have some kind of bore kit or something? There is no way to get it with just regular add ons. Maybe more low end but you aren't going to raise the top speed that much. Where did you get 65? GPS, speedo, where. It seems like an extremely high number to me. Like I said, I can get 60 out of the grizzly 660 on flat pavement, and that takes all day to get there. Maybe 63-64 tops on a big downhill.

On flat pavement, I got the Recon to do 44mph and the most I've gotten from the Kodiak is 53/54mph. The only mod is the Kodiak has a K&N air filter. I can tell you I don't want to go any faster on these two quads! I was sceered simple on the Kodiak when it hit 50mph!! I don't think either of these 2 machines were built for speed. In my opinion they're at their best crusising through the woods on a trail doing 10 to 20mph! But that's just my opinion/preference!

30 mph on a tight woods trail feels about the same as 60 on a dirt road. The kodiak is a good handler though. I know that there is a massive difference ripping through the woods on my Grizzly compared to my AC. Even with 27" mud tires on.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I have a Kodiak 435. The shop bored it. Plus I have tons of add ons.
