Grizzly owner survey...
#1
I am wondering if I am expecting too much from my Grizzly or if I need to wait a little longer or what, but I have 86 miles on my 2000 Grizzly and I have seen an increase in the top end so far from 44 MPH up to 52 MPH and I understand that it will get even better after a little longer. However, I have read that the Grizzly will wheelie off the line very nicely if you punch it and I find it won't. I am just curious if it is just me or is this common or what....
By the way, in case anyone reading this thinks that the Grizzly is a dog, that is by no means the way I feel. As a matter of fact I am picking up another new Grizzly this weekend for a friend of mine so we can hit the trails. I am just curious if mine is in need of adjustment in order to get the most out of it, or if some people are just exagerating a little..... Thanks again, you guys are a huge help!

My Grizzly has just over 3000 miles on it now. The top speed is now 56 MPH (factor in speedometer error for the 27 inch Swampers) and it is closer to 59 MPH. Thats pretty damn fast. I have had no problems except for a constantly worn out set of rear brake shoes, Yamaha needs to revamp the current designe. I have heard many complaints about them. My local dealer stocks them in 3 different brands. That should tell you something. There are quads that dig through the mud better, The Grizzly would have been one mean son of a beech had it of had a lock up feature on the front axle. As far as wheelies, Iweigh in at 280 pounds and am 42 years old my wheelie days are long gone. Just remember 630 pounds if it comes over on you is going to hurt like HELL. I use my Grizzly for trail building and various other woods duty and it has been a real Champ, it is also well maintained. I am really interested in the new 650 Kawasaki for a second machine. Me and a friend are going to Clearfield Pa. this weekend to check it out. Kawasaki is bringing ther trailer and Quads with them if this thing is all its supposed to be. Honda and the rest of boys are going to have to play catchup. The new Rubicon was a little disapointing. well actually a lot dissapointing. good luck with your Grizzly, you made a fine choice.

Most guys I see on the trail really like their Grizz's.Most of them will top out at around 60mph.Give the beast some time and dont forget about your first inspection at 20 hrs.If the speed problem is still there at 20hrs,let the dealership know of it,and best of luck,

Living at about 9000 feet above sea level my griz tops out at about 52mph according to the speedo.I will use a GPS one of these days to see how accurate this is? Wheelies - are you kidding? I would hate to be trapped under that beast. Also , this bike is outstanding for plowing.

I have a 2000 Grizzly and love it. I weigh in at around 450. It has plenty of power to get me around on the trails. I have 27 inch Bear Claws on it. When i first got the Grizzly it would do around 52. Now with the 27s it will do 58 on the speedo.

I felt the same way when i got my 2000 grizz, like it wasnt as fast or powerful as i thought it should be. That was until i rode the sp500, and rubicon. now i know the grizz has alot of nut. Wheelies? from a standstill, no, unless your standing on the rear rack. mine tops out at 59 with stock tires, now with my 27" titan 589 i get about 55 on the speedo, which is about 58.
