disapointed in '06 wolverine
#1
I was at a Yamaha dealer today and he showed by an '06 brochure of the new '06 wolverine. It is a 450, but auto and no racks. I use my '95 Wolverine for work and plowing snow AND playing. I was hoping Yamaha would upgrade the Wolverine someday, but it looks like the left the utility out of the new model. I carry bags on both front and rear racks when we go trail riding. I also like to shift, and don't get the automatics.
Anyone else seen the '06 Wolveine? What are your thoughts?

Sorry. I didn't search for old posts. I see this has already been discussed. I went to Yamaha webpage and am even more disappointed that Iwas. I was hoping for something that would make me want to trade my '95, but I would rather have my '95 than the new one.

I like it. I think it was 10 steps in the right direction. I think its about time somebody gave the Scrambler some competition. After all, it is a Sport 4WD ATV. I know a lot of people will kill me for this, but isnt the Honda Rancher available with 4WD and manual shift?

I don't see why yamaha even made that thing. I mean it is the same weight as the kodiak 450. So if you gonna buy a 4x4 sport utility, you might as we'll get the one with the racks already installed. Personally i think the new wolverine looks like a raptor 350 with an really ugly brush gaurd. I would buy the kodiak any day over the new wolverine but that is just me.

Over and over I notice that folks are lamenting the "lack of racks" on the new Wolverine. If you want racks, just get a Kodiak! All the Wolverine appears to be is a Kodiak without racks, and maybe some more sporty suspension. Thing is, they didn't lighten it up enough to get it anywhere near the sport class.
I was hoping for a LIGHTER, MORE POWERFUL, MORE REFINED version of the Wolverine for 06........a true 4X4 "sport" machine. Instead, Yamaha built a competitor for the (lard a$$) Scrambler, which was never ever anywhere near the sport class to start with.

Who knows maybe the after market will take advantage of this, and make some good hop ups. I can kinda see some potential in this thing. A full system pipe, a cam, a set of aftermarket bars with a better bend, with some hand gaurds, and maybe a winch, this can turm out to be a very good quad. The kodiak 450 already handles better than the griz in my opionion. So this might be something to look into. What do yall think.
