So I did some dune draggin a while ago with my friend who has a HEAVILY built 310r. We were both running 9 paddle haulers and starting 50ft from the base of a steep dune. We ran dead even, he took me every once and while if I stood it on end to bad, and I took him when he got bad starts..... there was a 330r there that smoked me by 4-5 lengths everytime......

The 250R against a 400EX/Raptor is like compairing apples and oranges. Two strokes and four storkes are completly different. One thing I know is my buddies piped 250 will kill a 400EX and I bet it will be close to a Raptor. What it all comes down to is a heavily modded 2-stroke will smoke a heavily modded 4-stroke. What do you guys think? Will the tricked out Banshee ever be beat by a similar modded Raptor or any other similar 4-stroke.

raptor will be faster, the 250r will jump better, better for an Motocross track, and maybe even some trails. The 250r can easily be made to keep up/beat a raptor in the dunes...like they say in the dunes 2 stoke is the way to go, and they are hard to beat. Plus with a 250r it will cost you way less to buy one now, and use that extra 6000 to mod it up..

I have a Honda 330r and a 400ex. And, I have a Raptor on the way. I have owned 250r's as well. I would have to say that the 250r with an aftermarket pipe and silencer would take the 400. Like someone posted earlier, it all has to do with the gearing. I can't wait to get my Raptor so I can compare all 3 quads. I'll post the results later. Have fun don't forget, it doesn't matter what people say about different quads, just ride the one that YOU like. (:

I have a raptor, '89 310R, and my wife rides the tires off a mildly modified '89 250R,my buddy rides a fairly warm banshee. I ride mainly at the Oregon dunes. I spent 3 days at Coos Bay with my raptor and was somewhat disappointed with it's performance compared to the 2-strokes. the 2-strokes climb out of the steep "bad boy" hill climbs much better due to faster wheel spin and the ability to pull into 2nd and 3rd gear on the straight up hills with no run.As for drags(flat sand beach drags) the raptor stays up through 3rd and then the 2-strokes leave me(these are all modified,I felt it did very well for a stock bike). I didn't get a chance to race any stock banshees or 250R's.Air time was SCARE time...WATCH OUT it is very nose heavy when launching off huge dunes( I almost yard sale'd it on my first big launch). It jumps somewhat like a banshee...blip the throttle on take off to keep the front end up. But in the sand it just didn't have the adrenaline rush of a 2-stroke. Just my opinion tho others are welcome to disagree.......
