installing QS1 HMF pipe Questions
I 'm install a QS1 HMF pipe on my 2004 450 kodiak and I noticed a couple of things. I hit the pipe on the air cleaner box a little bit. did not hurt the box in no way but some of the thin layer and I mean thin layer of that silver paper that goes around the box came off, only about a 1 inch square spot is off. what should I cover it with. And I noticed the the muffler and pipe from HMF does not have a heat shield. does it need it.
thanks

installing QS1 HMF pipe Questions
kodiakman5- the same thing happened to me when I installed my HMF utility pipe. That silver tape is just heat tape, and if you want you can buy some heat tape from a hardware store. I never did get any for it, and I have not had any problem. The only thing that I can think of that it would effect, would be if it got to hot, it might melt the box a little. I doubt that will happen as I have ridden mine for a long time in high heat without any signs of melting. The heat sheild is not required for the pipe you installed. Mine did not have one either, and like I said I have had no problems with that. I dont know if you live near a Lowes but they sell that tape I was talking about. Its usually in the heating/cooling department.
