Duct tape would have been better.

That silvadene (sp?) is good stuff. I got a pretty serious burn at a cup race several years back and that stuff healed it up great. Sometimes ya need to feel a little pain . An rx50 huh? lol. I rode a buddies Yamaha 450 and this one did not get hot like everyone talks about.....maybe he has richened his up to cool things down a bit? I would richen up everywhere and install a cooler plug as well to counteract this problem.....idle circuit and the needle first.
Amen on the silvadine! LOL But tell me that isn't the nastiest looking stuff when you get the nice yellow oozing from the burn and then the silvadine turns that nice black!

Anyway since we are sharing I will tell you if you ever put a HMF pipe on a Z400 don't put your leg all the way back with shorts on either! I have burn't the same spot on my leg like 3 times now on the wifes Z.

I think the reason my cousins gets so hot is that it is running too lean with the factory/dealer settings, and the summer heat doesn't help the situation.

Storj: Your friends raptor could be running too lean also.

You could ceramic coat the header to cool it down a bit

ya, the YFZ pipes do get really hot, then again, so do all exhaust pipes, the headers on my truck glow in the dark, and its fuel injected... but heck who cares right, aslong as you have fun gettin burned and being able to light fireworks off your exhaust pipe is great fun!!
