Default Hot Legs

Has anybody who owns a yfz450 ever had their pants catch on fire because the head pipe turned cherry red?
Because it happened last night to my cousin. He was riding down a dirt road and he said he looked down and
seen embers down by his feet. He was going at a pretty good pace while he was trying to smack the fire off
his leg, wish i could've seen it! He wasn't burnt so we all could laugh about! I never knew a head pipe could get that
hot.

One of my ridding buddies has a hole in all of her riding pants where her YFZ450 has burnt through them. They run very hot.

Ya I know someone that has a yfz and he says his fan is constantly on.....that probably isn't good in general yamaha should fix that the bike shouldn't be getting that hot. Especially with liquid cooling

That silvadene (sp?) is good stuff. I got a pretty serious burn at a cup race several years back and that stuff healed it up great. Sometimes ya need to feel a little pain . An rx50 huh? lol. I rode a buddies Yamaha 450 and this one did not get hot like everyone talks about.....maybe he has richened his up to cool things down a bit? I would richen up everywhere and install a cooler plug as well to counteract this problem.....idle circuit and the needle first.

Im thinking the jet orifices are a little smaller due to old gas/varnish.

still cruises pretty good though

My wife a a 5" long burn scar on her leg that looks exactly like the so-called heat shield on the 450. You can even see the bolt in the scar.

Well I guess I can reply to this subject because THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME but it was on my
warrior on my trip to mexico from gordenswell. Its a shame I ruined a perfectly good pair of camo pants
because I wanted them to be shorts instead of holey camo pants.should have used electrical tape.
